Favorite Reads: Seasons by Blexbolex

As you might know, I have a minor obsession with children's books and illustrations. My Amazon wishlist is out of control and I'm always finding excuses to sneak a few new titles into my cart at checkout. It's so fun when my children end up liking one of the books as much as I do!  I'm not sure what I'm going to do when they move beyond the picture book phase.

I picked up Seasons by Blexbolex in December, wrapped it up, and put it under the tree. I must admit, it was the amazing screen printed illustrations that influenced my buying decision, but it also got glowing reviews. Once the sparkle and shine of all the My Little Pony stuff faded away (thank you Mom), my girls finally noticed the book. This took about a week, but I knew they'd come around!

Now they love to flip through the book and ask me to read the words all the time. I wasn't sure how the simplistic approach of the book (one word or phrase at the top of each page) would be received, but they love it! It's great for E, who's on the brink of sight-reading and loves to memorize books and it's brought up all sorts of discussions about the earth and how it all works. And come on, those illustrations are glorious!

  1. I am so in love with this book... I remember coming across it last year at the library and when it came time to return it, I was such a grump. Each page is a treasure.

As for children's books I've discovered lately: Open this Little Book is magical. And I have a huge book crush on A Garden of Ordinary Miracles: An Alphabet Book.

Lovely post! I always like to see what other families are reading together :)
